Sermon Notes for preachers, teachers and Bible students

Life is hectic, especially for preachers and teachers. If you are a parson, priest or person who teaches religious knowledge, but just cannot find the time to study, then these Notes will interest you. They are all Bible-based and mostly arranged in modules of 12 sermons each. Bible texts are often quoted in full, so they may be used even by those who do not possess a Bible. Browse through them and select a Note for your next sermon or Bible study. See the Introduction for more details.

Subjects

Each Module contains a sermon on each of the 12 subjects listed below. In the process of time you may wish to do a series of talks on one particular subject: several sermons on, say, Yahweh the Almighty God of Israel or about His only begotten Son Yeshua, the Lord Jesus Christ. The list below will help you locate all the sermons on the subject of your choice.
  1. YAHWEH: The Father of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. How little is heard these days about the LORD God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel. Module by module we shall be taking you through studies of awesome fact concerning our Heavenly Father.

  2. YESHUA (JESUS) the Saviour, the only begotten Son of the Almighty; the one who died on Calvary to save mankind from annihilation. Were we to outline a million sermons on this one person, we would still not encompass all there is to tell. But we will make a start.

  3. THE HOLY SPIRIT: The Comforter, the very presence of the Almighty: His gifts, His work and the fruit He produces in the lives of true believers. Here we also include spiritual concepts, values and disciplines of eternal worth; i.e. truth, faith, love, joy, peace, humility, faithfulness, sacrifice and spiritual endurance etc.

  4. ANGELS (Holy and Unholy): Their role in the courts of heaven. Every module will contain examples of angel ministry and involvement with humans. Subjects such as temptation, violence, revolution and anarchy - areas in which evil angels specialise - will also be discussed.

  5. YAHWEH'S LAW: Little is heard these days about Yahweh's law, the constitution of the mighty universe. Our plan is to include a sermon in each module on the law of the Most High. It will define sin, outline the penalty for transgression and point to the Saviour; who alone is able to save the sinner from sin and its consequences - death!

  6. SALVATION: Here is another subject no preacher will ever exhaust. Every module will examine some aspect of the great Plan of Salvation. Who then can be saved? Saved by who, how, when and from what? These questions will be answered in this section.

  7. PROPHECY: Did you know that about a third of the Bible is given over to prophecy? Is your congregation studying Bible prophecy? Are they able to interpret the daily newspapers in the light of the Scriptures; or are they secretly terrified of the things that are happening on earth? A balanced spiritual diet calls for at least one sermon every quarter on Bible prophecy. This could be that sermon.

  8. PRAYER, PRAISE, THANKSGIVING: What proportion of your fellowship is praying every day? People are anxious to eat the right foods, to regularly exercise and to wear the right clothes; but how many pray on a regular basis - and with effect? The Bible contains scores of examples of answered prayer, spectacular responses by the Most High in answer to the prayers of His people. Some of those prayers will be the subjects of sermons.

  9. THE PSALMS: Here is a collection of sacred songs, testimonies and observations that have stood the test of time. Countless millions of believers in all ages have benefited from the Psalms. Each module will include a sermon based on a Psalm or Proverb.

  10. THE PARABLES: The Saviour said: " I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world." (Matthew 13:35) Jesus used parables to unlock age-old mysteries. Often they mystified and confused some of his hearers; but to others they were the key that opened the storehouse of spiritual understanding. Each module will contain a key sermon based on a parable. Remember, parables were given to unveil spiritual concepts and truths hidden since the foundation of the world.

  11. FAMOUS BELIEVERS: In this section we will take a brief look at Yahweh's followers, the Bible greats: men and women whose lives have been the subject of study by millions. Why did Yahweh bless them? What was their secret? Can we ever hope to do as well as they did? These and many other questions will be answered.

  12. THE UNCLASSIFIED SUBJECT: It would be limiting to say the least to restrict ourselves to the above mentioned eleven subjects no matter how worthy each obviously is: so we have left one sermon unclassified, to allow ourselves the opportunity to include any subject outside the listed range. Examples are: the family, missionary work, entertainment, recreation, study, friendship etc. These and many other unclassified subjects will be placed in this category.

Modules 1 and 2 of the Sermon Notes are also available, free of charge, in printed booklet form. To receive this booklet e-mail   sbs777@rmplc.co.uk   giving your name and full postal address - including the country. Please mention the booklet being requested.
